Points shared with Perth in hot contest 

The Newcastle Jets level 2-2 with Perth Glory who found a very late equaliser in the 97th minute, to take a point home with them. With goals from Trent Buhagiar and Kosta Grozos.

The Jets opened the match with a brilliant play of football with Beka Mikeltadze and Thomas Aquilina pairing up in front of the goals, as Mikeltadze created Newcastle’s first shot on goal. 

Newcastle had another chance in the tenth minute which saw Hoffman and Saito linking up well in the final third, creating headaches for Perth’s goalkeeper Cameron Cook. 

Perth had their chance at a goal in the 28th minute when Trent Ostler’s shot on goal was stopped by Michael Weier as the ball landed safely in his hands. 

The Jets found the back of the net in the 36th with Trent Buhagiar heading the ball past Cameron Cook, after Manabu Saito’s cross found Buhagiar at the back post.

The Jets began the second half pushing for more attacking chances, as they continued to hold onto the possession.

Perth levelled the match in the 52nd minute off a set piece that found Trent Ostler at the far post who headered it into the back of the net. 

Both sides continued to attack at the game, with Newcastle holding majority of the chances. 

The Jets took the lead in the 79th when Kosta Grozos pounced on a loose ball in front of the goals and hit the ball past Cook, to give the home side a 2-1 lead.

Perth continued to attack as they tried to find an equaliser, with the Jets defending their line before the final whistle.

A set piece in the 97th minute saw Ryan Williams find the net with a very late equaliser for his side, taking the final score to 2-2.

The Jets now have a week’s break before they take on Melbourne City FC on the 2nd of April in Melbourne.
