The Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the signing of defender Sophie Hoban for the 2023/24 A-League Women’s season.
Hoban joins the Jets from APIA Leichhardt in the NSW NPL where she has been a standout for her side this season. Hoban can play as a midfielder or in defence.
Hoban began playing her junior football in Queens Park in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs before eventually heading overseas to the USA in 2018 to undertake a scholarship at Iowa Western Community College where she won the Regional Championship. Since returning to Australia, Hoban has been a regular for APIA Leichhardt.
Hoban is eager to begin her A-Leagues career in Newcastle.
