The Newcastle Jets are delighted to announce the signing of talented young trio Zac Bowling, Nathan Grimaldi and Justin Vidic to scholarship deals for the 2023/24 season.
Bowling, a goalkeeper and local junior, has previously played for the Jets Academy before playing for local NPL clubs Edgeworth Eagles and Broadmeadow Magic. Bowling spent the 2023 season on loan at Victorian NPL side Altona Magic.
The 19-year-old is eager to represent his boyhood club.
“It has always been a dream of mine to sign for my boyhood club. All the lads and the coaching staff have been excellent and the goalkeeper group we have are supportive and drive each other to be the best we can each and every day.”
Grimaldi, a centre-back, joins the club from NSW NPL side the Sutherland Sharks. The defender rose through the ranks at Sydney FC before featuring for the NSW NPL side.
The 21-year-old is excited for what lies ahead at the Jets.
“I am buzzing to be a part of such a great club here at the Jets. The staff and playing group are true professionals and I can’t wait for the success we will have in 2023/24. From my short time living in Newcastle so far I already love the area and community which will make it easier to play my best football. I am grateful for my opportunity and can’t wait to show everyone what I can do.”
Vidic who plays as a striker, joins the club from Marconi Stallions where he played during the 2022/23 NSW NPL season.
The 19-year-old is happy to continue his development at the Jets.
“I’m extremely delighted to have signed my first professional contract with the Newcastle Jets. I’m excited to be part of the environment here at the Jets and I can’t wait to test myself to the best of my ability.
I am thankful to the club and coaching staff for giving me this opportunity. Football is my life and I am beyond grateful to start this new journey here at the Newcastle Jets.”
Bowling will wear jersey number 66, Grimaldi will wear jersey number 27 and Vidic will wear number 29.
