Maitland Liberty A-League fixture update

The heatwave weather forecasted for Maitland on Sunday has resulted in the APL making a change to the match scheduling.

Sunday’s A-League Women’s clash against the Wellington Phoenix originally scheduled at 5pm in Maitland will now move to No.2 Sportsground in Newcastle at the same time.

Newcastle Jets CEO Shane Mattiske said.

“The Women’s team and the whole Club has been looking forward to bringing the first of three professional women’s games to Maitland and the Hunter Valley region.

We’re really disappointed that the heatwave has caused a relocation of the first of our Maitland games.

The shift will allow all of our fans to still attend the ALW game v Wellington Phoenix in the family friendly timeslot of 5pm this Sunday.

We’re also sticking to our plan to hold an open training session at Maitland Sportsground on Saturday morning at 8.30am. We hope to see many of the local footballers and the broader community there to engage with the team.

We’re looking forward to playing the remaining two fixtures in Maitland on the 17th February and the 3rd March.

We’re also building plans to hold further A-League Women’s trial matches in the future in Maitland.”

Match Details:

ALW: Newcastle Jets v Wellington Phoenix

Time: 5.00 pm (AEDT)

Venue: No.2 Sportsground, Newcastle
