Local youngster Lara Gooch has re-signed for the coming A-League Women’s season on a scholarship deal.
The Newcastle midfielder made her debut last season for the Newcastle Jets coming on as a substitute against Melbourne Victory.
Jets Manager Ash Wilson is pleased to have Gooch return to the club for the coming season.
“Lara is an exciting product of our Women’s Academy program. She regularly features in Under 17 Australian training camps and matches. She made her A-League debut last season as a 16-year-old and demonstrated in the opportunities she was given, her potential. She is a player who has technical quality and speed with and without the ball which makes her a threat to opponents. Lara has a strong competitive mentality and represents the Jets badge with determination and pride. I’m very happy to be able to sign her again and look forward to what she will bring to this team.”
Lara is excited to be returning to the club and is looking forward to continuing her development at the club.

It’s always been a dream of mine to play in the A-League Women’s competition and to have the opportunity to make it a reality in my hometown in front of loved ones is super special.
