The Newcastle Jets can confirm that the Club’s co-Captain from last season, Gema Simon has accepted an opportunity to play with Melbourne Victory.
The Newcastle Jets would like to thank Gema for her outstanding contribution to the club which has spanned over 13 seasons, playing over 130 matches for the Club.
During her time at the Club, Simon received the player of the year award twice (2009/10, 2013/14).
Simon has also brought great pride to the Club and to the Newcastle and Hunter region through her 11 appearances for the Matildas.
The club would like to wish Gema all the best for the future.
Newcastle Jets Executive Chairman Shane Mattiske said, “Gema has made an outstanding contribution to this community, this Club and the Newcastle Jets Women’s A-Leagues team across an amazing thirteen seasons. We thank her for her dedication to the success of the Jets and we wish her well for the coming year and beyond.”
