Report: Jets suffer away defeat to Wanderers

The Newcastle Jets have been defeated 2-0 by the Western Sydney Wanderers at CommBank Stadium.

After a very tense first half, the home side took the lead when a shot off the post fell to the feet of Romain Amalfitano who tucked his shot away to put the Wanderers 1-0 ahead on the stroke of half-time.

The Wanderers started the first half brightly and were rewarded straight away when Brandon Borrello cut inside from the wing to curl his left footed shot past Michael Weier in the Jets goal to make it 2-0.

The Jets looked to find a way back into the game and were unlucky to not reduce the defecit when Reno Piscopo had a shot from close range well saved by Western Sydney keeper Lawrence Thomas.

The loss is the Jets first defeat of the season. Arthur Papas and his side now turn their attention to Melbourne Victory away next Friday night at AAMI Park.
