Report: 10-man Jets secure late winner against Glory

The Newcastle Jets have kicked off their home campaign for the 2022/23 season with a last minute 2-1 win over Perth Glory.

After a goaless first half, the Jets took the lead in the 58th minute through Jordan Elsey who headed in a Carl Jenkinson cross.

Elsey was then dismissed from the field after receiving his second yellow card with a high footed challenge inside the box.

Aaron McEneff scored from the spot to make 1-1.

The Jets withstood pressure from Perth Glory and MIchael Weier’s quick thinking found Jaushua Sotirio unmarked on the wing who played in Beka Mikeltadze to make it 2-1 in the 93rd minute to send the Newcastle home crowd into raptures.
