The Newcastle Jets women will travel to Adelaide this Friday to take on Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium, kicking off at 5:05 pm.
The Jets are returning after a one-week break due to having a bye, with their most previous match resulting in a 0-4 loss to Melbourne City at home, with three of the goals scored within the last 13 minutes of the match.
With just three rounds left of the season, Newcastle will be looking to snatch a crucial three points this Friday night, they are currently sitting in 10th place on the ladder with 10 points.
United’s previous match saw them defeat Perth 2-1, putting an end to their nine-game winless streak.
Adelaide is currently sitting in eighth place on 17 points, with five wins, two draws, and eight losses in their 15 matches played this season.
The previous meeting between the two sides saw the Jets defeat United in a 2-0 win in front of a home crowd, with both goals scored by Lauren Allan. The Jets will be looking to replicate their previous win over the reds this Friday night.
Within the six previous clashes between the teams, Newcastle have won three with Adelaide also on three wins.
With Lauren Allan’s two goals securing their previous win over United, she will be looking to produce a similar performance and snatch some more goals on Friday.
Matilda’s representative Jenna McCormick has been a strong force in Adelaide’s defence this year and will be looking to put a stop to Allan’s fast-paced attack, in what will be a key matchup to watch.
