Here at the Newcastle Jets we wouldn’t be where we are without the unwavering support from our Academy and Foundation partners. This week, we spoke with one of them in Newpave to find out why they decided to support the Newcastle Jets Academy.
What made you decide to sponsor the Newcastle Jets Academy/Foundation?
Newpave: When travelling to Wellington to watch Newcastle Knights play, we stayed in same hotel as the Jets. The Jets were very generous with their time and were good enough to supply us tickets to watch Jets play following day. Our General Manager at Newpave was impressed by the staff and team. As a result, we wanted to assist as a sponsor in some capacity.
What do you like best about supporting the Newcastle Jets Academy?
Newpave: Newpave as a locally owned family business is proud to have made the academy gym a reality with the input of sponsorship.
Tell us more about Newpave:
Newpave: Newpave Asphalt – a locally owned business founded in 2013. Newpavework for many local councils and Transport NSW resurfacing roads all over NSW. Not only do we lay asphalt, Newpave have 3 asphalt plants where we also manufacture raw materials into asphalt at Tomago, Muswellbrook and Moree.
How important do you feel it is for the community to support initiatives like the foundation & academy?
Newpave: Without community support and sponsorship these types of programs would not be possible. With rego fees and extensive travel required by parents, the cost to participate in these programs can be overwhelming for some families. Newpave sponsors many community sporting clubs and is proud to be a partner of the Newcastle Jets academy.
What message would you like to send out to those who are considering getting involved?
Newpave: Get onboard – the most widely participated sport in Australia needs continued and ongoing support at grass roots level to deliver our next generation of champions.
